Richard Price who recently finished his Ph.D at Oxford on the philosophy of perception teamed with partners from Stanford and Cambridge to launch Academia.edu which is a “virtual genealogy tree” listing of the world’s academics along with their departmental and institutional affiliation and recent research and presentations.
Academia.edu is set up to list the world’s academic community—Faculty members, Post-Doctoral and Graduate students and Independent Researchers. All are invited to add their institutional affiliation to the tree by clicking on the boxes or adding a box. The tree is filling up rapidly with more than 25,000 academics added in the last three months. See some of the world’s greatest minds listed:
